There were quite a few articles about the immigration in China in the papers and discussion about the Hukou system.
At first I couldn’t understand all the pros and cons of why the so called immigrants didn’t have services in other cities until
I started traveling around China. Before the European Union, Europe had the same laws. A child from Holland couldn’t just
get up and attend a public school in Spain. They were different countries. You were in effect an illegal immigrant. When you
travel around China and start to understand China isn’t just the United States where everyone speaks English, you can start
to understand the problem. China is the unification of different countries. Each different area has its own language not even
a dialect but a different language. Mandarin is equivalent to the Europeans speaking English in order to communicate across
borders. The modernization of the hukou system isn’t so easy. Even today in Europe it takes quite a bit of jumping through hoops
to get the proper access to the health system in different countries when people move. There is no doubt that the large cities are
over populated but how is this problem going to be solved. These are the reasons people who work in different areas from their
birth place are called immigrants. China still is in the process of uniting its self.
